The San Antonio Spurs will end their two-game away trip against the LA Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday. The matchup pits the second-place Spurs against the third-place Lakers, with both teams looking to close the gap on the conference-leading OKC Thunder.
After suffering their first defeat of the season against the Phoenix Suns in their previous game, the Spurs will be motivated to return to winning ways. San Antonio suffered a 130-118 loss in Arizona, which ended their five-game unbeaten streak.
Meanwhile, the LA Lakers have been flying high after a slow start to the season. The Purple and Gold were 2-2 in their first four games, but have since won four games in a row and enter this matchup as one of the most in-form teams in the league.

San Antonio Spurs vs. LA Lakers preview
The San Antonio Spurs have been one of the best teams this season and look to provide stiff competition to the OKC Thunder in the West. However, they lost ground on the reigning champions on Sunday after suffering a 12-point loss to Devin Booker and Co.
Victor Wembanyama had an uncharacteristically quiet night, finishing with just 9 points and 9 rebounds while committing six turnovers. His struggles contributed to the Spurs’ slow start, and although they mounted a strong comeback with a 40-point fourth quarter, it ultimately wasn’t enough to pull off the win.
However, the Frenchman is expected to make a strong return against the Lakers a he remains one of the best individual performers this season, averaging 26.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, the Lakers continued their winning run against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, securing a 123-115 win despite missing Luka Doncic, Auston Reaves and Lebron James. However, the Slovenian is expected to return against the Spurs, while Reaves' availability will be a game-time decision.
With the duo being in the form of their lives, they will test an injury-stricken Spurs backcourt. Meanwhile, DeAndre Ayton and Jake LaRavia have started to find their rhythm under JJ Redick’s system and will aim to challenge Wembanyama in the paint.
