San Antonio Spurs predicted to add Duke star to pair Victor Wembanyama with another player nearly seven feet tall

The San Antonio Spurs have a lot of young talent, and the 2026 NBA Draft will give them a chance to add more. There’s an argument that the Spurs should look to trade some picks so they don’t have as many young players, but this draft class is loaded and they should have a chance to land a very good player.

In Ricky O'Donnell’s of SB Nation's latest mock, he had San Antonio selecting at No. 12 and projected them to land big man Patrick Ngongba of Duke.

“I usually give the Spurs a shooter in this spot, and in the comments their fans always start complaining when they see ‘guard’ next to their name. Fine! San Antonio gets one of my favorite prospects in Patrick Ngongba in this version,” he wrote.

Ngongba’s appeal is obvious, as the second-year big has improved a lot in a bigger role with Duke this season.

“A 6’11 big man with immaculate finishing touch, slick passing ability, and proven paint protection instincts,” O’Donnell added.

San Antonio pairing him with Victor Wembanyama wouldn’t only give them a great duo, but two young players who can make plays around the basket and defend at a high level.

If the Spurs prioritize inside play and rim protection over shooting in this range, Ngongba’s upside could make him one of the more intriguing fits on the board.
