Sami Zayn's feelings on the WWE Championship, "If I don't ever win it, that's okay"

WWE's favorite underdog, Sami Zayn, has had an incredible career so far. While he's yet to bring in the top prize in the promotion, Zayn's become a highly decorated Superstar. And if he never wins the World Championship, it's not something that'll bother him that much.

Sami Zayn joined WWE back in 2013, debuting for the restructured NXT brand. While there, Zayn would quickly become one of the best in-ring stars the brand had ever seen and captured the NXT Championship after a series of great matches with Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze, and Tyson Kidd. Zayn would arrive on the main roster in 2015, debuting in John Cena's US Title Open Challenge.

Over the years, Zayn's won the Intercontinental, United States, and WWE Tag Team Titles. However, he's yet to win "the big one." In an interview with the Toronto Sun last week, Sami Zayn spoke on WWE's return to Montreal, what he wants to be remembered for, and more. He described being stuck at the "99th floor," but seems content at never reaching the top of the mountain.

"I've just accomplished so much more than I ever thought I would on so many different levels, and I've got so many great experiences. For me, this is all gravy at this point. There's still...getting on that 100th floor would be nice. For sure, winning the world title it's the elusive one. I wouldn't mind winning that one. If I don't ever win it, that's okay, because I'm in pretty good company as, in my opinion, one of the better guys to have done this without winning the world title." [10:20-10:52]

Zayn is undoubtedly in good company among a list of greats who never won the big one, like Roddy Piper, The Junkyard Dog, Jake Roberts, and more.

Sami Zayn recently lost the WWE United States Championship

Sami Zayn debuted on RAW thanks to John Cena's United States Championship Open Challenge. When he won the US Title from Solo Sikoa back in August, The Underdog from the Underground brought the challenge back. Zayn faced off against the best the brand had to offer, even John Cena himself, boasting a 6-1-1 record with the title.

Sikoa, Rey Fenix, Je'Von Evans, Shinsuke Nakamura, Carmelo Hayes, and Aleister Black all fell to Zayn in his latest title run. John Cena's match ended in a no-contest thanks to a Brock Lesnar assault, and Zayn finally lost the championship to the returning Ilja Dragunov on October 17th.
