When the New Orleans Saints took Tyler Shough out of Louisville with their second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, many people loudly expressed disapproval of the pick. They said the team should have gone in a different direction, since Shedeur Sanders was still available on the board.
However, once Shough finally got his first real chance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 26, he showed many critics that with more reps, he could be a solid quarterback in the league, as the Saints haven't had consistency at the position since NFL legend Drew Brees retired.
Of course, the Saints are not going to make the playoffs, as they have still lost games with Shough starting and have ten on the season, but with the unexpected promise Shough has shown, it has given the team's fans hope for years to come.
Shough's performance on Sunday against the New York Jets was nothing short of amazing, as he had a career day in the Saints' 29-6 win. The rookie has thrown for 308 yards and a touchdown on 49 pass attempts.
This is the fifth game out of the last six; Shough has thrown for over 200 yards and is leading the Saints to their third straight win after disrupting the NFC South race and beating the Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers the last two weeks.
New Orleans will be on the road for its last two games of the season, facing the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons. If they can win those games and finish the season off on a five-game winning streak, it could be a considerable momentum boost for them heading into next year.
