Saints RB trade rumor could result in deal with Seahawks

The New Orleans Saints have found themselves in an interesting running back situation in early March.

The Saints officially added former Jacksonville Jaguars standout running back Travis Etienne Jr. to the fold on Friday.

However, the NFC franchise still faces a pivotal decision regarding its 30-year-old, five-time Pro Bowler and former third-round pick, Alvin Kamara.

According to a recent trade rumor involving Kamara, the Saints and the Seattle Seahawks, it wouldn’t be wise to rule out the possibility of spending the next leg of his career with the reigning Super Bowl champions.

“They (Seattle) just need another dynamic weapon, and Kamara would give them that (it’s a possible trade former Seahawks receiver Bryan Walters has mentioned in interviews with Bump and Stacy),” Seattle Sports’ Stacy Rost wrote Friday.

“You’d love to have prime Kamara, of course, but Seattle could also use veteran depth out of the backfield and as a pass catcher.”

“This isn’t just offseason rambling — there’s a real question about Kamara’s future in New Orleans, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s a situation other teams are monitoring.”

Although Kamara’s product suggests he’s declining with age (he finished the 2025-26 season with a career-low 471 yards rushing, 186 yards receiving, and only one total touchdown), his skill set is still alluring.

Whether remaining patient until a clear hole opens up, using deceptive cuts to make defenders miss in the open field, or making himself useful as a receiver out of the backfield, Kamara can still be effective in the right situation.

Could that situation be Seattle? Perhaps, but the Saints would have to be willing to cut ties with Kamara for a deal to ever materialize. For now, the Tennessee product will remain with the Saints until the franchise decides on his future in New Orleans.
