Dolphins to sign 25-year-old Chargers versatile offensive lineman

The Miami Dolphins have some work to do to complete their roster for the 2026 NFL season. While they made the first big step by adding Malik Willis, there is still room for more offensive help.

After adding wide receiver Tutu Atwell, the Dolphins' next priority on offense is the offensive line. There are a few options, but adding some cheap competition for training camp is something the Dolphins need to do.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are doing just that. The Dolphins are adding Los Angeles Chargers' 25-year-old versatile offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer to compete for a starting job in 2026.

Dolphins sign Jamaree Sayler to FA contract

"Per source, Dolphins are adding OL Jamaree Salyer, who has started 40 games at guard and tackle for the Chargers over the past four years," Jackson reports. "Immediate contender to start at guard for Miami. Has played lots of LT and RG."

Salyer is a younger free agent, and while he has some upside, his struggles at times for the Chargers the last four years have made him more of a project than an instant starter.

But for the Dolphins, a team not likely to contend right away in 2026 as they retool the roster, this is the exact kind of addition that can prove worthwhile.

Patrick Paul is entrenched at left tackle, and Jonah Savaiinaea will have left guard locked down as well. Aaron Brewer, following a breakout year, is the starting center, while Austin Jackson will likely reprise his right tackle role in 2026 as well.

Kion Smith is the current starter at right guard for the Dolphins, so Salyer's most likely landing spot along the offensive line for Miami would be at right guard.

Salyer has started 40 games over the past four years for the Chargers, with the bulk of those starts coming early in his career in 2022 and 2023. This past season, he made just five starts, playing only 52% of the offensive snaps for the Chargers.
