The New Orleans Saints are 1-4 on the regular season, and heading into Week 6 against a surprisingly good New York Giants team without Jaxson Dart trying to avoid a 1-5 start to the year.
While the Saints will have their second-year QB playing Sunday, as Tyler Shough is playing for Saints, he isn't at 100%. In fact, a recent update revealed he's far from it.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Shough has two broken bones in his hand, albeit his non-throwing hand. But, this issue is a real problem for New Orleans, as their young QB is very clearly not at 100% right now.
Tyler Shough revealed to have two broken bones in his non-throwing hand
"New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has been playing with two broken bones in his left hand, sources told ESPN," Schefter reports.
This is a surprising report for the Saints' QB, especially with Schefter adding on that this hand injury occurred in the Saints' loss to the Atlanta Falcons back in Week 4. He's played through a full game with a broken hand.
While the Minnesota Vikings defense is elite, and all sorts of quarterbacks struggle against this tricky defense, Shough's poor performance, going 16-of-25 for just 96 yards with two interceptions and one sack, could be explained by his broken hand.
The Saints have kept this injury under wraps for over a week, but ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Giants, the same week that owner Gayle Benson put the pressure on the Saints to turn things around, this Shough injury has been revealed.

New Orleans needs Shough to overcome this injury, which obviously won't be easy, in their Week 6 matchup against a decent Giants defense.
With a Week 7 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7 before a Week 8 bye, the Saints are playing Shough in hopes that he's able to fight through this injury.
While he can still play, the question now is whether he can be an effective quarterback or not. Two broken bones in his hand, even though it's not his right hand, are still an issue for the Saints' QB.
This is a real issue for the Saints and Shough, as a broken hand isn't just going to go away or be something simple to play through, not as a QB.
How he performs against a lesser defense in the Giants, one week removed from playing through this injury, will be very telling. If he struggles again, the Saints might have a huge problem on their hands this season with their hopeful franchise QB.
