Saints' Kellen Moore shares new timeline for Alvin Kamara decision

During the 2026 NFL offseason, the New Orleans Saints made it a goal to surround Tyler Shough with the best possible environment.

They added David Edwards to round out the offensive line and added Jordyn Tyson and a few other receiving options in the 2026 NFL Draft. But, at running back, they signed Travis Etienne Jr. despite still having Alvin Kamara on the roster.

Now, there is a big question of what Kamara's future entails. And according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Saints head coach Kellen Moore shared an update on the Kamara situation, revealing a timeline for a decision that doesn't look urgent.

Saints' Kellen Moore reveals timeline for Alvin Kamara situation

"[Kellen] Moore said there's no timeline on figuring out the Alvin Kamara situation," Underhill reported Thursday.

This is a noteworthy update, as the Saints seemingly don't have a resolution planned with their five-time Pro Bowl running back just yet.

While they have plenty of time to determine his future before mandatory training camp begins, it's still a little unexpected that there's not am ore concrete answer at this point.

There will be a resolution in the future, and it's most likely that Kamara sticks around as the backup for a season. But, it's also entirely possible that Kamara is traded or is cut by the Saints.

In such a scenario, Kamara may stand by his words and retire instead of playing for a new team. The Saints haven't made a call on Kamara yet, but it's also not looking like one will come anytime soon, either.

This update from Moore is a bit lackluster, as the Kamara situation is going to continue to be dragged out this offseason. Anything is on the table right now, as Kamara could stick around for another year or be gone before training camp begins later this summer.
