Sabres relish in Ryan Whitney's prediction misfire as he visits Buffalo for playoffs

In mid-December, Ryan Whitney uttered the words that have made him a bit infamous in Buffalo.

The retired NHL player said that the Sabres had a "0.000 percent" chance to make the playoffs.

Four-plus months later, the Sabres are in the playoffs. So that didn't age particularly well.

On Tuesday night, the sides came together. Whitney attended Game 5 of the first round series against the Boston Bruins in Buffalo.

He even wore a hat that had 0.000% on it.

And he certainly made sure to take part in all the festivities:

It wasn't a perfect Tuesday night for those in attendance in Buffalo. The Sabres got it to overtime against the Bruins, but David Pastrnak won it there to keep the series alive.

Buffalo will take a 3-2 series lead to Boston for Game 6, hoping to finish it off there but knowing they'd be hosting a Game 7 if the Bruins win another one.

The Sabres have already proved plenty of people wrong, including Whitney. But they've got work to do to ensure that this return to the playoffs, after 14 consecutive seasons of missing out, is a trip that lasts for a while.
