Sometimes, rumors begin to circulate on NFL social media, and it's hard to figure out where they came from.
A handful of different accounts started to share Sunday that Russell Wilson may land with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. Given that Patrick Mahomes is recovering from a torn ACL, the Chiefs need another solid QB just in case. Could it be Russ?
It's hard to say.
Complex Sports wrote a story saying that the Chiefs "consider" Wilson, although it's not clear the roots of that information.
Then, Athlon Sports jumped on that Complex Sports report for its own article going deeper into the possibility of Russ to the Chiefs.
From there, NFL content spreader Dov Kleiman shared his own post saying that Wilson has been rumored to the Chiefs, but didn't explain where he'd gotten that information from, either.
Well, that leaves this looking like a very loose link, but it is one that will get people talking.
Wilson is of course a former Super Bowl champion, but his glory days are well behind him.
In 2025, he started the first three games of the season for the New York Giants before they gave the job to Jaxson Dart.
The season before, Wilson did help the Pittsburgh Steelers sneak into the playoffs.
There would be worse fill-in options for Mahomes than Wilson, if he was willing to accept the fact that as soon as Mahomes is ready, Wilson becomes QB2.
That's the point of his career that he's at, so maybe this ends up being a good match. Just at the moment, the rumors are a bit mysterious and not as concrete as Chiefs fans would probably like.
