The Atlanta Braves are enjoying a nice and steady start to the 2026 season. As the calendar flips to May, that currently have a record of 24-10 and a 7.5 game lead in the National League East.
But, there hot start might have just hit its first snag. And boy, this one is a doozy.
Superstar Ronald Acuña Jr., who has having one of the best starts to his career, could be missing some time after some hamstring tightness. It happened after a hit ball in the second inning of their game against the Colorado Rockies. As Acuña Jr. made his way up the first baseline, he started gripping the back of his leg and hobbling.
He was then pulled from the game.
There is no word yet if he will be missing any time, but if he does, it could seriously undermine everything this team has achieved up until now.
Acuña Jr. is having a fantastic year, batting .252 with a pair of home runs and nine RBIs. He has drawn 20 walks already this season and stolen seven bases.
The Braves have been led by Matt Olsen and Ozzie Albies at the plate, but you cannot deny the importance of having Acuña Jr. in the lineup. He brings a completely different dynamic to the game, and this could be the year that he gets hot and returns to that form in 2023 that shook the baseball world.
We will have to wait and see if he can go again on Sunday, but Braves fans should brace themselves if he misses time. This team may not be the same without him.
