Rick Pitino sensing ‘light has come on’ for Bryce Hopkins after rough St. John’s start

Bryce Hopkins was terrific on New Year’s Eve in St. John’s win over Georgetown, despite an off offensive night.

He impacted the game despite not scoring, which Rick Pitino has emphasized is something Hopkins could do if he played with maximum effort.

The Hall of Fame coach said he believes the Providence transfer has turned a corner after picking up his game in recent wins over Harvard and Georgetown.

“I believe he has and I judge it from practice, not only those two games,” Pitino told The Post on Friday. “I think the light has come on. He always has worked hard, but he never worked at an A-plus, A [level]. He gave you a B or a B-minus, Now he’s giving us A efforts.”
