‘RHOP’ alum Candiace Dillard questions whether Wendy Osefo and husband Eddie were ‘targeted’ with fraud charges

A “shocked” and “sad” Candiace Dillard found out about her ex-“Real Housewives of Potomac” co-star Wendy Osefo’s arrest moments before going on live TV and questioned the validity of the allegations.

“My first thought is, are they being targeted? Is this something that we should be thinking about?” Dillard, 38, asked on a local Fox outlet in Washington, DC, Friday.

“It just feels like someone is out to get the girls,” she added, referencing another “RHOP” cast member Karen Huger recently serving six months in jail over a DUI.

Dillard expressed her suspicion over “two women from the same show — the same show that features African American women in the climate that we’re living today, where people are being picked up and snatched off the street for frivolous nonsense” — finding themselves behind bars.

“I would like to see everything before I make my final thoughts,” she said.

Dillard pointed out that Osefo and the latter’s husband, Edward “Eddie” Osefo — who was arrested alongside his wife Thursday for multiple fraud charges — are “business owners” and “entrepreneurs.”

“We don’t know what the charges are for, but we know that the Osefos have a very successful marijuana business,” the reality star said. “They are providing jobs and opportunities for people of color in the area.”

“I know her family and I’m heartbroken,” the reality star added. “I have chills. I’m shaking because I can’t imagine.”

Dillard noted that she spoke to Wendy, 41, “very recently,” who “never let on that anything was wrong.”

Despite the “Drive Back” singer’s theories about why the Osefos are facing criminal charges, authorities released detailed court documents explaining the married couple’s indictment.

Investigators claimed Wendy and Eddie lied to police about an April 2024 home burglary that allegedly occurred while they were on a family vacation in Jamaica.

The couple, who have been married since 2011, allegedly installed an ADT alarm that was never activated before leaving for their trip. Their Ring camera reportedly only monitored package deliveries.

Investigators stated in court docs obtained by Us Weekly that the Osefos allegedly filed claims for stolen goods with two insurance companies, which included suspicious allegations such as that Wendy’s gold diamond anniversary band was missing — even though that had not been reported in the original filing.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly then discovered via social media that Wendy had allegedly worn her ring and that the Osefos were “burdened by substantial debt” at the time.

Law enforcement reportedly also found that many of the items the couple claimed were stolen had actually been bought before the burglary and returned to their respective stores, “where a full refund was provided prior to the alleged burglary.”

Page Six has reached out to a rep for Wendy and Eddie for comment but has not heard back. A spokesperson for Bravo, the network for “RHOP,” could not immediately be reached, either.

Wendy faces 16 total charges for insurance fraud and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud in excess of $300, as well as a charge for allegedly making a false statement to a police officer. Eddie faces the same charges but has 18 total counts against him.

Aside from being a reality star, Wendy has worked as a commentator on CNN and holds multiple college degrees, including a bachelor’s in political science and a Ph.D. in pubic affairs. She also owns her own candle company and co-founded a cannabis lifestyle brand, Happy Eddie, with her husband in 2023.

A public information officer exclusively told Page Six Friday that the Osefos placed a $50,000 bond each and were in the process of being released.
