REPORT: WWE working on massive John Cena plans post-retirement

WWE is reportedly working on massive John Cena plans after his retirement. The GOAT bid goodbye to his decorated in-ring on December 13 at Saturday Night's Main Event.

His final match saw him tap out to Gunther as the 17-time World Champion went out on his back. After the match, WWE paid a tribute to Cena; however, it looks like the company was doing more than that on the night.

According to a report from Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE is working on a documentary about Cena focused on his retirement run. The documentary is planned for a release in mid-2026.

The report adds that there were documentary crews on hand for filming at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on December 13 during Cena's final match. Furthermore, it is mentioned that Peacock is rumored to be the platform for the release of the documentary, though it is not confirmed.

This will mark the first major project involving WWE and John Cena after the icon's retirement. Notably, the Last Real Champion signed a five-year deal to be the company's ambassador just before his retirement.

John Cena confirms he won't wrestle again

Retirement is a word loosely used in pro wrestling. Fans have witnessed legends lacing their boots for one more match after hanging them up years ago.

However, John Cena intends to honor his word on retirement. During an appearance on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, The Franchise Player confirmed he won't be wrestling again.

During the conversation, Rhodes said that knowing Cena, it is likely he won't wrestle again. The Never Seen 17 simply said "for sure," confirming his stance on staying away from in-ring action.

Despite his retirement, fans will have a lot to look forward to with Cena's documentary and possible other appearances for WWE.
