Rams' Sean McVay needs an explanation after controversial call vs Seahawks

1 hour ago 2

Many fans around the world witnessed arguably the best game in the history of  'Thursday Night Football' between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks.

There were many exciting elements to the game, from the Rams jumping out to a 30-14 lead in the second half, carrying it into the fourth quarter, and even picking off Sam Darnold for the second time of the night, giving MVP favorite Matthew Stafford and the offense possession with about eight minutes to go in the game, with a Rams victoy appearing very likely.

However, that would all change in an instant after the Seahawks traded for wide receiver Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints, in which he made a name for himself as a speedster and explosive play threat. He delivered on that reputation with a huge punt-return touchdown for Seattle, quickly cutting the lead to 10, but what happened after that has Rams' head coach looking for answers.

After that big-time play from Shaheed, the Seahawks were able to get a critical stop and score to cut the lead to two, and had to go for a two-point conversion in an attempt to tie the game.

To most fans, it initially looked incomplete, a failed two-point conversion, with a batted pass by Jared Verse that bounced into the end zone. Still, after the ball rolled into the end zone, Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet casually picked it up, and after an official review, it would count as a successful attempt, meaning the game was now tied.

Obviously, this did not go well for the Rams, who were unhappy with the call, especially after losing in overtime, and it will significantly impact their playoff seeding and divisional chances.

Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed his frustration with the call in the post-game press conference, stating that "I've never seen or been a part of anything like that." Later, he clarified that he wasn't making any excuses, but he would like to know the rule.

The Rams, however, have to quickly get past this and focus on getting healthy and preparing for their next game against the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 29th, their last game of 2025.
