Heidi Klum Reveals Look at Spooky “Beginning” of Epic Halloween Costume

In Heidi Klum's life, one day you're a stunning 5-foot-9 model, the next day you're kinda terrifying.

Or, at least, that will be the case this Oct. 31 when the Project Runway host says "Auf wiedershen!" to sexy Halloween costumes at her annual bash.

"I’m hard at work already," Klum confirmed during an August 6 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And, yes, she expects her latest offering to be, uh, killer.

"I’m gonna be extra ugly and super scary," she teased. "Let’s not ruin it. We have exactly 86 days, but who's counting?"

Though she couldn't stop herself from serving up just one more teeny hint, sharing a 3D mold of her face to Instagram Oct. 1, writing, "This is just the beginning."

The 52-year-old also tagged prosthetic makeup designer Mike Marino, just one of the pros she's teamed with to ensure she continues to reign as spooky season's biggest star.

Those wanting to give Klum a fright need only to reminder her of the look she treated fans to at her first Halloween bash back in 2000.

"I was like, 'I’m Heidi. I’m going to do a Heidi-themed dirndl-type thing in patent leather,'" she explained to host Jimmy Fallon. "But I had to do my own hair and makeup. I didn’t know anyone at the time who does special effects makeup."

As a result, she acknowledged, "This is boring."

But she definitely didn't phone it in last year when she and Tokio Hotel guitarist husband Tom Kaulitz turned up dressed as the titular character from the 1982 classic E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

"I loved being E.T. so much," said Klum, though, she admitted, "It was so heavy holding that head on my head because it goes from the back to the front. I thought my neck was going to snap off."

And heavy is the head that holds the queen of Halloween crown

"There goes a lot into it because I wanted to be so spectacular that this is not something I can just throw together overnight," she explained to People of the intensive process. "It takes a long time. It takes a lot of planning."

And now that she has fans waiting for the big reveal, she's pulling out all the tricks. "I don't want to let anyone down," she added, "so I'm always giving everything."

Before we see what she scares up this year, we're treating you to a look back at all her old costumes. Consider this the proof that she's been slaying for more than two decades.

Little known fact about crows: a group of them is called a murder. Perhaps that's why the model chose the bird for her haunting costume. Distressed to discover the step-and-repeat was black, "Now I work on the background, too," she told People. "Since then, I do the step-and-repeat, the carpet, everything."

While the model's looks have become a lot more elaborate, for her very first party she was just Heidi (as in the character from Johanna Spyri’s German novels), choosing to dress up in a dirndl "but not a tradtional dirndl," she told People. "And in those days I still did my hair and makeup by myself."
