Red Sox trade rumors involve 1 of 2 possible outfield stars getting shipped out

The Boston Red Sox probably have too many outfielders.

That could lead to an offseason trade, one that would allow Boston to bulk up at a weaker position in the organization.

ESPN's Jeff Passan wrote on Wednesday that the Red Sox could wind up shopping either Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu.

Duran is the power-speed threat. He was potentially available before the July trade deadline and now is potentially there for the taking again.

Abreu is more of a power guy to go along with a great throwing arm in right field.

Both of these guys bat from the left side and can be big contributors to a playoff team. The Red Sox may just not have room for everyone.

In addition to these two, Boston has Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela and Mastaka Yoshida, not to mention prospects, including Jhostynxon Garcia.

And Passan is not suggesting that both will be dealt. So one would stick around to join what already looks to be a hefty group.

In some ways, it's a good problem for Boston to have. The Red Sox have a lot of talent and some insurance, too.

In other ways, though, the Red Sox have to take care of it. A few wins here and there could matter in the end, and upgrading a different position while not really losing anything in the outfield from one guy to the next could make all the difference.
