The Boston Red Sox have already sent one All-Star to the San Francisco Giants this year. Could they ship another one over at the trade deadline?
The Red Sox have a logjam in their outfield and need to make a decision as to which three of their young outfielders will be part of their future. Roman Anthony is the top prospect in baseball, so his spot is safe. Ceddanne Rafaela is signed to an extension already. That leaves Wilyer Abreu and Jarren Duran. Abreu has been performing well this year and won a Gold Glove last year. He is also younger and has more club control than Duran.
Duran was an All-Star last year, but his numbers have declined this year. He is under contract through 2028, but may be the odd man out. ClutchPoints' Bailey Bassett proposed this trade that would send Duran to the Giants:
- Red Sox receive: Carson Whisenhunt (Giants' No. 2 prospect), Rayner Arias (Giants' No. 7 prospect) and Carson Ragsdale (Giants' No. 21 prospect)
- Giants receive: Jarren Duran
Three top 30 prospects for Duran could be considered an overpay. However, it may be justified given that he is under club control for multiple seasons. He has an $8 million club option for next year, and then has two more arbitration years. He also has shown he has All-Star potential. He led baseball in doubles and triples last year.

"Duran played elite defense en route to his first All-Star appearance last year," wrote Bassett. "He also killed it with the bat, as he hit 21 home runs while maintaining a .285 batting average. His 48 doubles and 14 triples led the NL, too. His numbers are slightly down this year, but he has still already hit eight triples. Duran is a speed threat who can hit for both power and contact. He'd give the Giants a four-headed outfield monster and better their chances of winning this year's World Series."
