With the Boston Red Sox’s latest walkoff, they have now started a second real win streak, as they haven’t lost in their past eight games. They’re also now 31-5 in their past 35 games, putting them at 63-51, and only a half a game behind the first Wild Card spot.
No one expected this back in April, when the Red Sox were under the coaching staff under Alex Cora. Fans were calling for the firing of Craig Breslow, as they felt he hadn’t fielded a team good enough for Cora or Boston. Turns out, the team wasn’t the problem.
Pre-Tracy Sox were horrid

Before the Red Sox fired Alex Cora, they were one of the worst three teams in the American League. They were 10-17, and in last place in the AL East. This was a tough pill to swallow for Sox fans, as they remembered the days of 2018-21, where Cora had led some dominant and strong Red Sox teams.
This season, they just couldn’t get it together. It seemed like the year was lost, and the plan that pitching and defense would win games backfired. However, one major catalyst changed all of that.
The Tracy Turnaround has been magical

That catalyst was the firing of Alex Cora and his coaching staff. The Red Sox then brought in AAA Worcester manager Chad Tracy as the interim skipper, and cobbled together the coaching staff from all levels of their farm.
At the time, it seemed like Boston were trying to use Cora as a scapegoat, which fans didn’t like; he was a two-time World Series champion, one as a player and one as a skipper.
Although, it’s definitely been for the better. Tracy’s coaching style differentiated from Cora’s, as it pulled away from sole analytical focus, to going back to being risky, with more steals and bunts. So far, the Red Sox are 53-34 under the new regime, making it a huge success.
Tracy needs to be rewarded at some point

If Boston continues this dominant run into October, Tracy needs to be rewarded in multiple ways. One is a way Boston can control, by dropping the “Interim” from his title. With the same resources Cora had, Tracy has turned this roster from one of the worst to one of the best in the MLB.
Another way is one the MLB controls, which is Manager of the Year. Tracy came into a dumpster fire, and turned into a diamond mine. He’s made the Red Sox a favorite for the playoffs in just a couple months, which is unheard of. It also would make his case to become Boston’s long-term skipper a whole lot stronger.
Hopefully, both things happen for Tracy, and Boston has a great skipper for years to come.
