Red Sox No. 1 prospect Roman Anthony breaks silence on long wait for MLB promotion

Boston Red Sox fans want Roman Anthony in Fenway Park as soon as possible.

But so far, the Red Sox have been patient with the top prospect in baseball.

Anthony recently spoke about the waiting game with the Boston Globe.

"We joke about (when a callup might happen), and we make light of it," Anthony said. "And I think that’s the only way to kind of go about it. No reason to be salty,” said Anthony. “I get to play baseball here, regardless of what level I’m at. I get to play baseball every single day, so not really worry about it.

"I think when you start wondering too much and worrying too much about tomorrow or the next day or the next week, that’s when you sort of get yourself in trouble. So I think I’ve been off to a great start this year, just being where my feet are and enjoying it, enjoying this team, his staff, and enjoying getting better every single day."

That's a strong mindset from the 21 year old.

Anthony was a second-round pick in 2022 but quickly developed into can't-miss prospect territory.

At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds with a sweet lefty swing, Anthony is made to be an MLB star.

This season at Triple-A Worcester, Anthony is batting .316/.449/.510 wit height doubles, two triples, six homers, 18 RBI and three stolen bases.

He has walked as many times as he has struck out (39 each) in 196 plate appearances.

The Red Sox have a crowded outfield, but it seems like room should be made for Anthony sooner rather than later.

A competitive team has no reason to keep a potential superstar down on the farm any longer. Anthony's time should be here any day now.
