This hasn't been as good a season as the Boston Red Sox hoped for.
Through Saturday, June 8, Boston has a 31-35 record. A lot of the heat from outside the organization has fallen on manager Alex Cora.
There's been plenty of speculation and questioning about whether the Red Sox might fire Cora.
But as of Sunday, there's a big update on the matter from USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
"The Boston Red Sox may be playing sloppy and mediocre baseball," Nightengale writes, "but manager Alex Cora’s job is safe."
Talk about a ringing endorsement.

Cora is generally respected and has usually been successful. The Red Sox could still turn things around, too.
They've dealt with a lot of injuries, and it seems Cora's hands may also be tied a bit by those in charge of him. It can't be Cora's call to leave superstar prospect Roman Anthony at Triple-A.
If things go downhill from here, things could certainly change for Cora.
But right now, he'll remain on the top step of the Boston dugout.
