The Boston Red Sox are 31-35 and in danger of falling out of contention by the July 31 trade deadline. The team has not met expectations, and Alex Cora's future is being questioned by fans.
While the Red Sox are not a postseason team at the moment, it seems that the organization is not ready to make any drastic decisions. Unlike the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates, the Red Sox are not expected to fire Cora, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
"The Boston Red Sox may be playing sloppy and mediocre baseball, but manager Alex Cora’s job is safe," Nightengale revealed.
Cora became the manager of the Red Sox in 2018. Since then, he has a 552-486 record. The Red Sox's best season under Cora came in 2018, when the team won 108 games and the World Series. However, since then, the team has made the postseason just once.
In 2021, the Red Sox lost to the Houston Astros, the team for which Cora was the bench coach before joining the Red Sox. In 2020, Cora was suspended for his role in the Astros' cheating scandal.

The Red Sox have plenty of time to turn things around and make a push for the postseason. However, theyt need to be within striking distance of a postseason spot before the July 31 deadline to avoid becoming sellers. If they do decide to become sellers, players like Jarren Duran, Aroldis Chapman and Walker Buehler could be dealt.
