The Boston Red Sox have a lot of talent returning in 2026.
But the organization will have at least 15 slots to fill.
That's how many minor league free agents are leaving Boston's system for the open market, according to Baseball America. That's actually one of the lower numbers across the league, with multiple organizations having 30 or more players heading to free agency.
Players hit minor league free agency after six years of their initial deal, or after whatever length may have been on a further minor league contract.
Baseball America provided this list of the Red Sox's 15 such free agents:
- John Brebbia
- Zach Bryant
- Isaiah Campbell
- Yovanny Cruz
- Gabriel Jackson
- Bryan Mata
- Adam Smith
- Manuel Medina
- Ronaldo Hernandez
- Mark Kolozsvary
- Chadwick Tromp
- Seby Zavala
- Albert Feliz
- Karson Simas
- Trayce Thompson
Trayce Thompson is the most recognizable name on the list. He's the brother of NBA star Klay Thompson.
Brebbia and Campbell both have big league pitching experience and should get new contracts from an organization.
Tromp and Zavala have both caught at the MLB level, which will make them solid depth signings for somebody.
Boston could choose to bring some of these players back with new contract negotiations, or the Red Sox could look at the long lists of other teams' new minor league free agents and replenish from some of those.
