After the New England Patriots surrendered 295 yards and four touchdowns to Matthew Stafford on Sunday in their Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at Gillette Stadium, they decided to move on from cornerback Marco Wilson.
However, Wilson didn't have to wait long to find his new team, as the Cincinnati Bengals claimed him off waivers on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was originally a fourth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL draft following a collegiate career at Florida. New England claimed him last December, and in 10 games this year, he recorded 15 tackles and one pass defensed.
Wilson will help Cincinnati, who could make a run to another AFC Championship game this year, replace DJ Turner after the cornerback suffered a broken clavicle.
New England, after releasing Wilson, filled his roster spot by activating Alex Austin from injured reserve. The 23-year-old has appeared in eight games for the Patriots over the last two years, recording nine tackles, two passes defensed and an interception.
