Rebels head football coach Lane Kiffin dishes out rat poison to the entire SEC on behalf of Ole Miss

Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin threw several SEC coaching peers under the bus on November 18, though none by name, by claiming several of them don’t want to reach the conference championship game because of the risks.

"The conference championship could have a big impact both ways. I've talked to some other coaches, and the feeling is that they don't want to get in it. The reward to get a bye (in the playoffs) versus the risk of getting knocked out completely....is a really big risk,” Kiffin said (h/t The Rebel Walk).

No Kiffin quote on the Rebels’ stance on the championship game was shared. Take that as either Ole Miss not wanting to be in the game themselves – unlikely since the Rebs have never been to the SEC Championship Game – or Kiffin learning how to dish out some rat poison.

We know Kiffin is thinking of rat poison. He commented on it after being asked by a media member about Nick Saban claiming Ole Miss was “probably” the best team in the conference.

"He's now become the rat poisoner. He's doing exactly what he complained about,” Kiffin said.

Kiffin has always wanted to emulate Saban’s success. He could never beat the man, but now that the man has retired, he can be the man.

Rebels head football coach Lane Kiffin’s message to prospective Ole Miss recruits: ‘You can come here, get everything you want’

Kiffin flexed his recruiting results and on-field success in Oxford during the presser, claiming that he’s actively changing the narrative at Ole Miss and, more notably, telling recruits they can have it all as Rebels.

"What is going on is a lot of years of work changing the narrative of Ole Miss football. You can come here and get everything you want,” Kiffin said.

If The Grove Collective is garnering enough donations, Kiffin might not be lying. He has an overperforming NIL collective that’s making recruiting at Ole Miss an easier job than it’s ever been.

Of course, it’s give and take. Kiffin is giving donors reasons to believe every season.
