The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Team India's ODI squad for the upcoming South Africa series on Sunday (November 23). The two teams are currently squaring off in the second Test of a two-match series in Guwahati. The ODIs will commence after the conclusion of this contest.
The hosts will be without their captain and vice-captain, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, in ODIs as both are currently out of action due to injury issues. Selectors have chosen veteran player KL Rahul as the captain in their absence.
The senior duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in action, while frontline pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were rested for the series. Ruturaj Gaikwad got a call-up after almost a year, following strong performances in domestic cricket.
However, he might have to wait for a chance in the playing XI as Yashasvi Jaiswal might open the innings with Rohit Sharma in Gill's absence. Ravindra Jadeja also made a comeback into the squad after missing the Australia tour, replacing Axar Patel.
Fans expressed disappointment about some of the calls made by the selectors, such as ignoring Sanju Samson and showing inconsistency. They shared their reactions on the matter by posting hilarious memes onX. One of the memes read:

The three-match ODI series will commence on November 30 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur will host the second match on December 3 before the teams travel south to Vizag for the series finale on December 6.
