The Baltimore Ravens got some horrible news after their Week 8 loss to the Buffalo Bills, with both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley hitting injured reserve, and both set to miss the remainder of the season.
Down their top two quarterbacks, the Ravens reportedly made a trade, swinging a deal for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett. While the deal didn't go through before their Thursday Night matchup, the Ravens' trade did become official Friday morning.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Ravens are making a mid-round pick swap while also giving up a 2028 seventh-round pick to land their new starting quarterback.
Ravens trade package for Jacoby Brissett revealed
"Ravens-Cardinals trade for Jacoby Brissett is now official," Schefter reports. "Per sources: Ravens receive QB Jacoby Brissett and a 2027 5th-round pick. Cardinals receive: a 2027 4th-round pick and a 2028 7th-round pick."
This revealed trade compensation isn't bad at all for the Ravens. While they are giving up a fourth-round pick for Brissett, which might seem like a lot, they're getting a fifth-round pick back in the trade.
If these picks stay where they're currently projected, the Ravens will have only moved around 30 picks backwards in the draft, while giving up a 2028 seventh-round pick, to get a quarterback for the rest of the season.
After what Joe Fagnano put on display in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, it was clear this team needed QB help. They're making the move for Brissett to give this team a chance to compete in games this season.

Zay Flowers, Derrick Henry, Ja'Kobi Lane, and any other young or long-term player will now have a chance to succeed with Brissett at QB.
He isn't a great starter by any means, as he was benched against a poor Dallas Cowboys defense before Gardner Minshew came in and played much better than Brissett for the Cardinals in Week 8.
But, considering the Ravens cannot rely on Fagnano, or any other QB, for the rest of the season, this Brissett trade needed to happen.
Fortunately, it didn't cost the Ravens much, as the drop from the fourth to the fifth round isn't stark, and the future seventh-rounder is minimal compensation to give up. This was a good trade for the Ravens, even if they miss the playoffs this season.
