The Baltimore Ravens made headlines on Thursday afternoon by completing a thought-provoking roster move.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Ravens signed a 39-year-old ex-Jacksonville Jaguars star defender who will likely be a Hall of Fame inductee when it's all said and done.
“Six-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Calais Campbell is reuniting with the Baltimore Ravens,” ESPN’s Jamison Hensley reported.
“Campbell is returning to sign a one-year deal with the Ravens, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday. This will mark the 19th season for Campbell, who will turn 40 on Sept. 1.”
“Baltimore is bringing back Campbell because the interior defensive line was among the thinnest positions on the team after the draft."
"Though Pro Bowl defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike might come back from neck surgery, the only Ravens defensive linemen currently available who played more than 100 snaps last season are Travis Jones, John Jenkins, and CJ Okoye.”
After starring for the Arizona Cardinals and Jaguars for multiple seasons, Campbell joined the Ravens for the first time in 2020 via a blockbuster trade.
In 41 games with the Ravens, Campbell, a gifted run defender and quarterback pressure generator, contributed 113 tackles, 11 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Campbell was highly productive with the Cardinals during his return to the franchise in 2025-26, finishing the year with 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 17 contests.
Although the Denver, Colorado native is nearing age 40, he’s still a durable contributor who can be highly impactful with the Ravens in his second go-round.
