Ravens' Mark Andrews has perfect response to potentially breaking franchise record

2 hours ago 2

The Baltimore Ravens' season is on the line against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10, with John Harbaugh's team in dire need to string wins together for an unlikely playoff push.

It is also a big game for tight end Mark Andrews, who is only 18 yards away from breaking the franchise record for receiving yards, which is currently held by Derrick Mason with 5,777 yards.

In what is no doubt a big milestone for Andrews and the organization, the All-Pro could be forgiven for thinking a little about himself in the lead-up to Baltimore's game in Minnesota.

But in true Andrews fashion, he's all about the team.

“No, nothing's been said and nothing needs to be said,” Andrews said. “Obviously, this is a very important game for this organization, and we need to win this game. That's what's most important. It's kind of just a cherry on top [the record]. I've been able to be a part of an amazing organization, amazing ride. That is by far not the most important thing that I want to have achieved within this organization.”

Andrews close to being franchise legend

Just eight years into his career, Andrews, after Week 10, could have two franchise records all to himself.

Already with the most receiving touchdowns in Ravens history with 55, for Andrews to then get 18 receiving yards to own that record outright as well would put him in rare air and solidify his status as one of the best players to pull on a Ravens jersey.

Of course, as Andrews said, his record isn't his focus on Sunday; it is beating the Vikings to keep the Ravens' playoff hopes alive, but he wouldn't be human if it didn't creep into his mind at some point during the game.

But still, getting the record and not winning the game is nightmare fuel, so in an ideal world, the Ravens beat the Vikings, and Andrews gets his record.

However, as we know, the football gods have a cruel sense of humor.

A big game awaits.
