Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane shared his honest perspective on the team's ex-GM Chris Grier. During Thursday's locker room interview with the press, he said that he was disappointed with Grier's firing and heaped praise on him as a decent human being with a good personality.

"I thought he was a great, great GM, great human being," Achane said. "Like you said, we had a connection, we speak. You know, it was sad to see him leave. But like you said, it's a business and, things happen."

The Dolphins have had a lackluster season this year under coach Mike McDaniel. In Week 9, they suffered a humiliating 28-6 loss at home at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens. Following this outcome and a 2-7 record, the team decided to fire Chris Grier as the GM after 10 years.

However, not everyone believes that Grier was the problem. Last Friday, Nick Wright said on "First Things First" that the Dolphins needed a change in the quarterback position if they wanted to fix their problems. He believes that Tua Tagovailoa is not the right fit for the team.

"It's all moot as long as that guy (Tagovailoa) is your quarterback and you're paying him that much money," Wright said. "You can't win that way. ... I feel like Tua was temporarily propped up by Tyreek being in the midst of one of the greatest stretches any wide receiver's ever had. "To me, this is about the quarterback. Because the quarterback got paid like he's a star. The quarterback, to me, does not have the arm strength, the size, the mobility, or the leadership of a franchise quarterback."

Nick Wright was referring to the four-year $212.4 million extension that Tagovailoa signed with the Dolphins in July 2024.

Unfortunately, he has been struggling to make scoring plays with the offense on the field this season. In nine games, he has tallied 1,779 yards and 15 TDs passing, while throwing 11 interceptions and being sacked 18 times.

Colin Cowherd believes that the Dolphins should fire Mike McDaniel and bring in Lane Kiffin as his replacement

Grier was not the only one whose job security was in trouble. Mike McDaniel also finds himself in the hot seat after the Dolphins' disappointing record this season.

Last Friday, Colin Cowherd suggested that the team fire McDaniel as the coach and bring in Lane Kiffin from Ole Miss as his replacement.

"Here's why you hire Lane Kiffin," Cowherd said on his show. "No.1 offense in college football last several years. Half of the SEC quarterbacks this year, all that first-round quarterback's everyone's talking about. ... four of the eight best quarterbacks are from the SEC. "Lane recruited them, Lane faced them. Lane looked at film of them. Nobody knows the SEC quarterbacks better than the current best offensive coach."

According to reports, the Dolphins will keep Mike McDaniel as the coach throughout the rest of the season. However, there is an air of uncertainty about his retaining his job next year.

McDaniel and his team are next scheduled to face the Buffalo Bills (6-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
