Ravens make announcement on Justin Tucker release possibility after Tyler Loop draft pick

The Baltimore Ravens told Justin Tucker ahead of time that this was coming.

That's what head coach John Harbaugh revealed in comments to reporters this week.

When Tucker kicked at the Ravens' facility leading up to the NFL Draft, Baltimore's leadership shared with Tucker that they might be drafting a kicker, according to ESPN.

"He already understood," Harbaugh said. "He knew the situation... So, he knew that was a possibility."

The Ravens drafted Tyler Loop out of Arizona in the sixth round. He's the first kicker ever drafted by Baltimore in the 30-plus years of this franchise's existence.

"He's really into every detail and technique, and he studied Justin a lot and a lot of other guys, too," Harbaugh said of Loop.

The Ravens rookie minicamp is this weekend.

"We will get a chance to see his leg, and that will help us address what our decision-making is going to be moving forward," GM Eric DeCosta said.

The NFL is investigating Tucker on allegations of sexual misconduct. He has been accused of inappropriate behavior by 16 massage therapists, according to the Baltimore Banner.

Tucker is the NFL's field-goal percentage all-time leader, but he struggled in 2024 to a career-worst 73.3 percent on field goals.

Loop may be the future in Baltimore. Signals certainly keep pointing that way.
