The WNBA season hasn't officially begun yet and Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are already breaking records.

The team's game against the Brazilian National Team on Sunday, May 4, drew in 1.3 million viewers — more than any NBA preseason game since 2018, more than all but two NBA preseason games since 2010, and more than Game 1 of the 2024 WNBA Finals.

(The NBA preseason games in question were in 2017, when LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers played the Chicago Bulls and in 2018, when LeBron joined the Lakers and the team took on the Golden State Warriors).

The game was a big one for Clark, who returned to her alma mater to square off against Brazil. She also shot a 35-foot three, eclipsing the spot where she broke the NCAA shooting record in 2024. Clark also hit her first 3 of the game within 30 seconds of play, something the crowd was thrilled to see.

With ratings already this high, there's no telling what numbers the Fever will hit this season. The team next faces the Atlanta Dream on May 10.
