The Texas Rangers have made some changes to the roster in recent years, but one of the more notable additions in 2024 was the addition of Wyatt Langford to the outfield.
Coming off a World Series-winning season, Langford joined the Rangers as a promising young outfielder, and he was solid in each of the last two years.
However, as ESPN's Buster Olney points out, Langford might have reached a turning point in his career and could be on the cusp of a major breakout season in 2026 to turn into a superstar that he's shown he can be this spring.
Rangers' Wyatt Langford might be on cusp of big breakout
"Wyatt Langford might have reached a turning point," Olney writes. "Over the last 64 games of the 2025 season, Langford seemed to turn a corner for the Texas Rangers, generating a .387 on-base percentage and a .459 slugging percentage."
That strong close to the 2025 season for Langford hasn't just stopped this spring. In fact, while it's a small sample size of 13 games and 33 at-bats, Langford has continued this strong stretch of play.
This spring, the righty-hitting outfielder at 24 years old has a .455 batting average with five home runs and 15 RBIs with a very strong 1.538 OPS.

While there are still questions as to whether he can translate this spring production and the strong close to 2025 into the 2026 season, there is reason to be optimistic.
He's only 24 years old, and he has two years of MLB experience under his belt. Breaking out in his third year in the Majors would hardly be a surprise, especially with how he's been trending lately.
In his MLB career, he has a .758 OPS and 38 home runs across 988 at-bats in two seasons. Langford has the talent to be a superstar in the league.
As Olney mentioned, he might have reached a turning point from the end of his 2025 season and the 2026 spring training.
