Tottenham injury list: Spurs players out, potential return dates, predicted lineup for next game vs. Nottingham Forest

1 hour ago 3

Now eliminated from all other competitions, Tottenham Hotspur can now solely focus on the desperate fight to retain their Premier League status.

Spurs have been bounced from the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, and most recently the Champions League, leaving them to concentrate all their energy on the battle at the bottom of the league table, where they are embroiled in a true relegation scrap.

A lengthy injury list has weighed down Spurs throughout much of the campaign, and it has resisted all the club's attempts to lighten the burden. Thankfully, Tottenham have a long break across the March international window, with a full three weeks off from competitive action, allowing them to hopefully get more healthy for the stretch run.

The Sporting News brings you a look at the list of injured Tottenham players, plus a projected lineup for their upcoming match.

Tottenham injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Tottenham, including estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Guglielmo Vicario

  • Injury: Head
  • Expected return date: April 18 (vs. Brighton)

Tottenham starting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will have hernia surgery, the club confirmed, a problem which arose in late March. The problem only came to light when he was omitted from the Italy squad for the March international window, a surprise given the other options.

It was revealed that Vicario will start against Nottingham Forest this weekend before going under the knife. Thanks to Spurs having three weeks between fixtures, it's not expected to keep him out long. The Spurs release said he hopes to "return to action within the next month," meaning that while his presence in the return to play against Sunderland on April 12 isn't a guarantee, it's indeed a possibility.

Joao Palhinha

  • Injury: Head
  • Expected return date: March 22 (vs. Nottingham Forest)

Palhinha was taken off after a concussion check following the Romero collision. Tudor ruled both men out of the Liverpool game and, with Palhinha having come off a little worse than Romero, earmarked next weekend's crunch clash with Nottingham Forest as a possible return date.

Yves Bissouma

  • Injury: Muscular
  • Expected return date: March 22 (vs. Nottingham Forest)

Tudor ruled Bissouma out of the Liverpool game due to an undisclosed muscular problem. He is ineligible to face Atleti, so this weekend will be his next opportunity.

Conor Gallagher

  • Injury: Illness
  • Expected return date: March 22 (vs. Nottingham Forest)

Gallagher featured against former club Atletico from the bench but has been laid low by illness. He missed the Anfield game and is not expected back until Forest.

Mohammed Kudus

  • Injury: Thigh
  • Expected return date: April 11 (vs. Sunderland)

Kudus was injured in the early January draw with Sunderland and following a scan over the next few days, unfortunate news was revealed. Frank stated on January 8 that Kudus would be out until after the March international break.

Dejan Kulusevski

  • Injury: Knee
  • Expected return date: Unknown

Kulusevski's absence has been felt by club and country with the Sweden international yet to feature this season after undergoing knee surgery in May. He was expected back before the end of 2025, but Spurs continually refuse to give a timeline for his return. Even Frank has been frustrated by his continued absence, saying in late December: "When they are ready to be close to joining the squad then I will provide an update."

An update eventually did come in early January, when the club stated he was still 3-4 weeks away from returning to training, at which point he would likely need further ramping up to regain fitness. Yet on February 9, Frank said Kulusevski would be seeing a specialist the following week, after which the club will know more, indicating Kulusevski has once again missed his timeline.

Rodrigo Bentancur

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date: April/May

After picking up a hamstring injury late in the January defeat to Bournemouth, Bentancur could be out a significant amount of time. In the immediate aftermath of the match, Former Tottenham boss Thomas Frank felt confident enough to proclaim that the injury "looks like a bigger one, unfortunately."

Bentancur then underwent surgery, meaning the Uruguay midfielder will likely have to spend at least three months on the sidelines.

Ben Davies

  • Injury: Fractured ankle
  • Expected return date: June

Davies was injured in the loss to West Ham, and Spurs announced on January 19 that he would need surgery on a broken ankle. It means the experienced defender, who is out of contract at the end of June, could have played his final game for the club.

Wilson Odobert

  • Injury: ACL tear
  • Expected return date: September

The 21-year-old French winger suffered a serious knee injury in the first half of the February defeat to Newcastle which saw Thomas Frank sacked.

An ACL tear will keep Odobert out at least six months, meaning he is done for the 2025/26 campaign. He may not even be ready by the time preseason begins, meaning he might need additional time before proving fit to participate in next season's proceedings.

James Maddison

  • Injury: ACL tear
  • Expected return date: June 2026

Maddison suffered ACL damage in a preseason game against Newcastle in August, with his campaign over before it even started.

Kota Takai

  • Injury: Thigh
  • Expected return date: Unknown

Japan international Takai is yet to make his Spurs debut following a summer move from Kawasaki Frontale.

Tottenham suspension list

Richarlison

  • Length of ban: One game (UCL only)
  • Return date: Spurs' next Champions League match

Richarlison will miss the second leg against Atletico due to yellow-card accumulation. He will be eligible to return for Spurs' next game in the competition.

Micky van de Ven

  • Length of ban: One game (PL only)
  • Return date: March 22 (vs. Nottingham Forest)

Van de Ven was sent off for denying Palace a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Such an offence only incurs a one-game ban, so he will return for the huge game against Forest. He can also play against Atleti.
