Rams' Sean McVay reveals big Davante Adams update for 2026 season

The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a disappointing end to the 2025 season, but after how productive the offense looked, retaining as much of the offense as possible is a must.

While the future of Matthew Stafford in the NFL and with the Rams is a major question mark, the Rams also have a big decision to make with superstar WR Davante Adams.

Rams head coach Sean McVay, according to Nate Atkins of The Athletic, revealed his thoughts on Adams for 2026, which is a big update on the superstar WR's status on the Rams' roster next year.

Sean McVay reveals Rams plans for Davante Adams in 2026

"Sean McVay 'absolutely' expects to have Davante Adams back next season," Atkins reports. "The reigning NFL leader in receiving touchdowns has one year left on his deal with a $28 million cap hit."

While the Rams easily could move on from Adams this offseason if needed, this report from Atkins on McVay's feelings indicates that Adams is going nowhere this offseason.

Puke Nacua is under contract for one more year on his rookie deal, and Stafford might end up coming back for his 18th season in the NFL.

But, regardless of what happens to the rest of the roster, the Rams are fully expecting Adams to return to the roster for the 2026 season.

But will he return on his current deal? It's not likely. The Rams will look to restructure his deal, add on a year or two, and help clear some cap space on his current deal.

After a 60-catch, 789-yard, and 14-touchdown season for the Rams, Adams is expected to return to the Rams for at least one more season.

Rams fans can expect to see Adams on the field next year, as the superstar WR is someone McVay "absolutely" expects back for the Rams in 2026.
