After the first game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams, it was a telling sign that their next matchup would likely decide the NFC West champion.
Now, come Week 16, the two teams are set for a 'Thursday Night Football' matchup with both teams this time in Seattle.
The Rams won the first meeting after being greatly aided by four interceptions by Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, which led to a two-point victory.
Now, a month later, both teams have to put what happened behind them, as they are not only fighting for control of the division and the conference but also making history when they take Lumen Field.
Thursday will be the first time both teams have played on TNF with 11 or more wins on the season.
The Rams have an MVP candidate in Matthew Stafford, who has arguably had his best season ever. He is already a future Hall of Famer and a top-tier receiver in the league, in Puka Nacua, who continues to put up great performances. Still, he will likely be without veteran Davante Adams, who went down late in the fourth quarter during their win over the Detroit Lions with a hamstring injury.
Much like their opponent, the Seahawks also have a competent pass thrower in Sam Darnold, an elite defense that has given many teams fits all season, ranking top ten in total defense while allowing only 18 points per game, and also have an elite receiver of their own in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, leading the league in receiving yards and has been the best receiver in the league to many.
With both teams evenly matched, there is almost no doubt this game will be entertaining, as it carries huge playoff implications that could determine who wins it all and makes history on 'TNF.'
