Thursday night was one to remember for Matthew Stafford.
The 37-year-old Stafford earned was honored as the NFL’s MVP after throwing for a league-leading 4,707 yards and 46 touchdowns with eight interceptions.
However, it was what he said during his acceptance speech that set off the largest applause — especially from head coach Sean McVay and wide receiver Puka Nacua, both of whom were in attendance.
“I can’t wait for you to cheer me on next year when we’re out there kicking a**,” Stafford said while addressing his four daughters on stage with him. “I’ll see you guys next year. Hopefully we’re not at this event and getting ready for another game at SoFi.”
APAfter losing to NFC West rival in the NFC title game this season, Stafford and the Rams will be looking for a different outcome next year.
The return of their MVP quarterback combined with McVay, Nacua, and a physical defense instantly makes the Rams Super Bowl contenders.
And that’s where Stafford will look for the perfect Hollywood ending, with the Lombard trophy in hand and confetti falling from the rafters of his home stadium.
