The Los Angeles Rams currently sit with the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoff standings. At 11-4, they host the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football in hopes of getting to 12 wins and potentially go to 13-4 in Week 18 to lock down the No. 5 seed in the NFC.
Ahead of that, though, mock draft season is coming around, as many teams will play their final games of the season in less than a week's time. Nick Merriam of College Football HQ predicts that the Rams will bypass taking a quarterback to learn behind Matthew Stafford and will instead take cornerback Jermod McCoy out of Tennessee with the pick they received in a trade from the Atlanta Falcons.
"The Rams have the defensive depth to take on the risk of McCoy’s injury," Merriam writes. "His 2024 tape was worthy of a higher selection than this, and the right rehab plan could turn him into a draft steal."
Additionally, Merriam has the Rams taking Texas offensive tackle Trevor Goosby with their own pick.
"Much like in Chicago, Sean McVay understands the importance of offensive line talent to his unit. Goosby wouldn’t need to play immediately, but adds size and a higher-ceiling projection at the tackle position for Los Angeles."
Of course, the Rams have their sights set on their second Super Bowl in five seasons - a quest they will begin wild card weekend.
