Rams might've had best offseason in NFL history after Aaron Donald's signing

The Los Angeles Rams were quite busy this offseason following a disappointing end to their 2025 NFL season in the NFC Championship Game to the Division rival Seattle Seahawks.

After that loss, the Rams and general manager Les Snead went to work improving this already elite roster. The first hurdle was cleared when Matthew Stafford, during his MVP award ceremony, revealed he was not done just yet. That gave the Rams the green light.

And boy, did they ever take it. Now, right before 53-man rosters are finalized, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Rams are bringing Aaron Donald back. It's the latest roster move in what might be the greatest offseason by a team ever in NFL history.

Rams might've just had the best offseason in NFL history

"Rams star Aaron Donald is coming out of retirement to play for his old team with a 1-year, $20M deal with playoff incentives up to $30M, per me and @AdamSchefter," Rapoport reports.

Donald, the future Hall of Famer and 10-time Pro Bowler and eight-time first-team All-Pro, is back in the fold for the Rams. It's an incredible move for the Rams, but it's hardly the only move they made this spring and summer.

The Rams signed Stafford to a new contract extension; they re-signed veteran defensive back Kam Curl and veteran tight end Tyler Higbee as well.

In free agency, they scooped up former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson for a huge upgrade at a spot that hurt the team last season.

Snead also pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Chiefs, sending a first-round pick and more to land Trent McDuffie, who then signed a massive $121 million contract extension.

But the big move was their stunning blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett, who is arguably the best defensive player in the NFL right now, as he is coming off a record-breaking 23-sack season for the Cleveland Browns in 2025.

They did have to give up Jared Verse to get him, but having Garrett is more than worth it. Plus, the Rams might've landed their QB of the future in Ty Simpson in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft, and also scooped up a few other nice depth pieces this offseason.

The Rams accomplished quite a lot this offseason. They added Ty Simpson alongside a quality draft class, Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and now Aaron Donald.

Los Angeles also brought back Matthew Stafford, Kam Curl, Quentin Lake, and Tyler Higbee. For good measure, both Sean McVay and Snead got new extensions for their head coach and general manager roles as well.

There are surely other great offseasons in NFL history, but looking at what the Rams just did, it's going to be hard to top the star power and high-impact moves the Rams have made this offseason.
