This offseason, when the Seattle Seahawks decided to move on from Geno Smith, they sought out a worthy trade price.
They arrived at a third-round pick from the Las Vegas Raiders as the right return from Smith.
Smith signed an extension in Vegas to be their starting QB for three seasons. Seattle got the No. 92 overall pick in return.
And in Friday night's third round, the Seahawks used the 92nd pick to draft Alabama QB Jalen Milroe.
From one quarterback to the next, now forever linked.
There's a chance this deal doesn't go down in history. Maybe Smith is just so-so for Vegas, or Milroe doesn't become a star for the Seahawks.

We won't know for a while, not while Sam Darnold holds down the Seattle job.
But someday, maybe we'll look back and marvel at this link.
Maybe it's Smith leading a historic Raiders season this year or next.
Maybe it's Milroe becoming an absurd combination of Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
Maybe it's both.
But it's just really cool that it worked out like this.
Most draft-pick trades have complicated tendrils as more deals are made along the way.
This one winds up being straight up, Smith for Milroe. It might not be how the Seahawks drew it up at the time of the trade, but it's how it played out.
Now, the football world can wait and see what happens for these two talented quarterbacks in new homes.
