The Las Vegas Raiders have officially made their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft and it is none other than Boise State superstar running back, Ashton Jeanty.
The Raiders were connected to Jeanty a ton in the wake of the Geno Smith trade, a move that made the team's need at quarterback less dire. Now, Jeanty will take the reins of a Raiders backfield that was the worst in the NFL in 2024.
If you're familiar with head coach Pete Carroll's days in Seattle, you know he loves him a true workhorse, game-changing back like he had with Marshawn Lynch. Drafting Jeanty now gives him that in Las Vegas.
Carroll was hilariously dropping hints ahead of the draft on social media, but we're not sure anyone really picked up on what he was hinting. Nevertheless, Carroll had a four-word reaction in the wake of the Raiders drafting Jeanty.

He is the definition of a complete back. Jeanty is a powerful and explosive runner, he can catch passes out of the backfield, and he's a strong pass protector. Barring something unforeseen, he should be the starter in Week 1.
Barring a trade up, the Raiders will next be on the clock with the No. 37 overall pick, which comes in the second round on Day 2.
