Radio host critiques Browns' handling of practice reps between Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders

The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of another quarterback controversy.

Rookie Dillon Gabriel has been unimpressive the last few weeks, to say the least, and fans are clamoring to see fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders on the field.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski has implied throughout the season that Sanders isn't ready yet and hasn't been receiving first-team reps in practice. But some are quick to point out that it's impossible to know for sure if the kid is ready or not without the reps.

Nick Wilson calls out Kevin Stefanski over Browns' practice reps

On 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, radio hosts Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterlin discussed the Browns' decision to give Gabriel more first-team reps over Sanders.

"It is something that I think is a flaw in the Browns' defense of Shedeur's not ready, which is you can't never give the kid first-team reps and see what he has with the first-team and basically give all of those things to Dillon, who's not ready," Wilson said to Peterlin.

"How can Sheduer be ready if he's not getting even 5% of the first-team reps?"

It's a fair question from the radio hosts, and to go even further, a head-scratching move from Stefanski and Browns brass.

"On top of it, how can you even grade him when during practices he's just off throwing to the scout team? It's all he's been doing...since he got the backup role," Peterlin responded.

Gabriel has disappointed through his first six NFL appearances, completing less than 60% of his passes for 702 yards. His average yards per pass is a lowly 4.9, signifying just how little the former Oregon Duck likes to take shots down the field.

It seems like there's only a matter of time before the Browns fold and give their other high-profile draft pick a chance to shine as the starter.
