A roaring Stegeman Coliseum provided the backdrop for a statement win Friday night as the No. 8 Georgia GymDogs delivered a big upset over the No. 2 LSU Tigers 197.200–196.850, marking the program’s first home victory over a top five opponent since 2017.

Georgia’s balance across all four events proved decisive. The Dawgs stayed steady through vault and bars, held firm on beam, and then closed with authority on floor. Junior Lily Smith produced two of the meet’s top routines, scoring 9.950 on both bars and floor, while Holly Snyder continued her strong early season form with a poised 9.925 on beam.

After the meet, co-head coach Ryan Roberts pointed to consistency and daily execution as the foundation of the win.

“We’ve talked about momentum right after Ohio State,” Roberts told Georgiadogs.com. “Keeping the momentum going throughout the week. It’s just the day by day. We’re trying to execute on a daily basis and focus on a process daily, do the right things on a daily basis. It [culminates with] what we did tonight.”

The night also carried a personal storyline for sophomore Harley Tomlin, who competed on both beam and floor and scored 9.825 on each. Watching from the stands was her father, former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who was in attendance to cheer her on.
