The Toronto Blue Jays wanted Kyle Tucker to hit in the heart of their order for the next decade.
In the end, the Los Angeles Dodgers landed the top free agent, ahead of the Blue Jays and Mets.
Toronto went for it, though. MLB insider Jon Heyman reported Saturday morning that the Blue Jays offered Tucker a 10-year deal for $350 million total.
Blue Jays offer to Kyle Tucker was $350M for 10 years. They certainly put in a big effort. Still one of the biggest winter winners with all they’ve done.

Tucker went for a whole different kind of deal. The contract he signed with the Dodgers is for just four years, but it's for $240 million.
That's $60 million per year, well ahead of the $35 million per year Toronto was offering over a longer period of time.
The Mets were said to be offering $55 million a year on a short-term offer of their own.
The Blue Jays had the difference-making possibility of the longer-term security, but evidently, that's not what Tucker was seeking.
Instead, he went to a Dodgers team where he won't have to be the main superstar. He can just settle into an already stacked order and make a lot of money and maybe get another solid contract in four years.
The Blue Jays tried, but in the end, it wasn't enough.
