WWE is set to kick off 2026 with several major shows. The January 5 edition of WWE RAW is set to feature as many as three major title matches, while a WWE Championship match is set for the January 9 edition of SmackDown in Berlin.
With so many big matches set to kick off the Road to WrestleMania 42, here are four potential title changes that could take place in January.
4. Rhiyo could win the Women's Tag Team Championship
IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley have gained a strong foothold in the women's tag team division and are set to challenge Asuka and Kairi Sane for the Women's Tag Team Championship next week. The babyfaces have had multiple run-ins with the champions and are likely to dethrone them, given the way things have been building up.
The Kabuki Warriors have had a decent reign since dethroning Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, and now seems like the right time for the title to change hands to keep the red-hot division's momentum going.
3. Becky Lynch could reclaim the Women's Intercontinental Championship
Big Time Becks has been very active on social media about her desire to reclaim the Women's Intercontinental Championship. Becky Lynch has accused current champion Maxxine Dupri of being a cheater, since it was AJ Lee's interference that helped her win the title. With the Alpha Academy member recently getting married, it is likely that she could take some time off television.
If that is indeed the case, Lynch could dethrone Dupri to become a two-time Intercontinental Champion. Thereafter, she could have a new program with someone like Bayley or even Sol Ruca to establish the division further.
2. Bron Breakker could finally become the World Heavyweight Champion
The January 5 edition of RAW will feature Bron Breakker challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Dog of WWE has had the upper hand in the feud so far, laying out the world champion on multiple occasions while also upping his mic skills to combat Punk.
With The Vision on his side, there is a very good chance that Breakker will defeat Punk to win his first world title on January 5. He has been perceived as a future main-eventer ever since his arrival, and his ascension could finally happen next week.
1. Drew McIntyre could finally defeat Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship
The January 9 edition of SmackDown will feature a Three Stages of Hell Match between Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship. The Scottish Warrior has come up short against Rhodes two times so far, and this will likely be their third and final match for the title.
If so, McIntyre could finally overcome Rhodes in Berlin and win the WWE Title. Fans have been clamoring to see the Scottish Warrior win the world title once again, owing to his incredible work ethic and performances. After so many missed opportunities, the creative team might finally put the title on him to kick of WrestleMania season with a bang.
