Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks Injury Report: Trae Young and Mitchell Robinson's Status Announced as 5 Players Listed (Jan. 2)

The Hawks upgraded Trae Young to questionable after he missed the previous two games with a right quad contusion. Young last suited up for the Hawks when they played against the Knicks on Saturday last week.

Kristaps Porzingis, who returned on New Year's Eve after missing several games due to an illness, is cleared to play against the Knicks. In his first game after a 10-game absence, the former NBA champion scored 16 points in 17 minutes, shooting 6 of 12 from the floor, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc.

Even though the sample size is small as Porzingis has played just 14 games, he ranks as the fifth-most impactful player in the NBA this season with a +6.0 EPM (Estimate Plus/Minus). The Hawks center is averaging 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Meanwhile, N’Faly Dante remains sidelined with a torn ACL in his right knee.

As for the New York Knicks, the franchise upgraded Mitchell Robinson to questionable after he missed the previous two games with left ankle injury management. New York coach Mike Brown said he expects Robinson to play either Friday against the Hawks or Saturday against the Philadelphia Sixers.

Josh Hart and Landry Shamet will remain sidelined with their respective injuries. Hart is recovering from a right ankle sprain, while Shamet is dealing with a right shoulder sprain.
