Although Hydreigon is naturally a Dark/Dragon-type, its Poison Tera Type changes its weaknesses and resistances.

Super-effective types:

  • Ground
  • Psychic

Keep in mind, Hydreigon’s Levitate makes it immune to Ground-type moves, neutralizing one of its weaknesses. Therefore, Psychic-type moves are your best bet for dealing consistent damage.

Best counters to Poison Hydreigon 7-star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

1) Malamar

  • Tera type: Psychic
  • Ability: Contrary
  • Held Item: Shell Bell
  • Nature: Modest
  • EV Spread: 252 HP / 4 Sp. Attack / 252 Sp. Def
  • Moveset: Skill Swap, Calm Mind, Rest, Stored Power

Start the fight by using Skill Swap to give Hydreigon the Contrary ability. This ability swap inverses the buffs of Nasty Plot and Dragon Dance, causing Hydreigon’s stats to drop instead of rise. After that, spam Calm Mind to max out your own Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense which will also power up Stored Power. Use Rest whenever you need to recover.

2) Excadrill

  • Tera type: Ground
  • Ability: Mold Breaker
  • Held Item: Shell Bell
  • Nature: Adamant
  • EV Spread: 252 Sp. Def / 4 HP / 252 Atk
  • Moveset: Earthquake, Swords Dance, Mud-Slap, Protect

Excadrill’s Mold Breaker lets it ignore Levitate, allowing its Earthquake to hit despite Hydreigon’s immunity. Use Protect strategically when Hydreigon resets your stats. Set up with Swords Dance as soon as possible, then go all-in with Earthquake for supper-effective heavy damage.
