As a veteran golfer, Phil Mickelson has often showcased his skills on different golf courses around the world. He has not been far behind when it comes to commenting on political issues either, frequently sharing his views on X (formerly Twitter).

Following his visit to Japan, US President Donald Trump has been making headlines over the past few days. A few hours ago, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi declared her decision to gift the United States 250 cherry trees. After this news was shared on X by Ian Jaeger, Phil Mickelson promptly commented on the same.

While replying to the X post, the veteran golfer urged US President Donald Trump to protect Japan and the rest of the US allies in Asia and the South Pacific region. Apart from placing his request, the golfer claimed that the USA "cannot be dependent" on Chinese and Russian tankers. Phil Mickelson wrote:

"@realDonaldTrump pls protect Japan and all our allies in Asia and S Pacific. Our military needs fuel to do that. We can’t be dependent on foreign oil and Chinese and Russian tankers for CA oil which supplies dozens of our military bases."

@IanJaeger29 @realDonaldTrump pls protect Japan and all our allies in Asia and S Pacific. Our military needs fuel to do that. We can’t be dependent on foreign oil and Chinese and Russian tankers for CA oil who supplies dozens of our military bases.

After Trump and Japanese Emperor Naruhito's meeting, the White House shared how the USA has secured a political alliance with Japan. Being a Trump supporter, Phil Mickelson addressed the White House and lauded them. The golfer also urged the White House to ensure the safety of the allies of the USA. The six-time major champion wrote in the comment section of the X post:

"This is great. I hope you’re on top of the energy supply chain to our military bases. We can’t protect our allies in Asia with our current fuel reliance on foreign oil and Russian and Chinese tankers. Any conflict leaves us with 3 days of operations. Please protect our allies."

It's worth noting that Mickelson has protested against the usage of Chinese COSCO and Russian Sovcomflot tankers for supplying oil for the military. Before today, he has taken jibes at a well-known Democrat for his energy policies in the State of California.

When Phil Mickelson slammed Gavin Newsom for violating policies renewed by Donald Trump

For those unaware, Mickelson recently launched a full-fledged attack on Newsom for his energy policies. On October 26, the California native accused the Governor of California of being "the biggest NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT".

The six-time major champ questioned Newsom's intentions for using Chinese and Russian tankers. Phil Mickelson further accused him of ignoring the policies regarding oil sanctions that the US President renewed. He wrote:

"It’s not only that the oil is coming in via Russian and Chinese tankers, it’s that the very oil that California must now import is oil that by the United States’ own current official policy violates the export controls... Policies put in place by Pres Biden in 2022 and just renewed by Pres Trump that are being disregarded and ignored by Gov Newsom."

Take a look at the X post by Mickelson:

@CAgovernor has no problem harming every Californian with ridiculous energy costs. BUT his policies have put every American and the entire South Pacific in harms way and is currently the biggest NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT. Is he really this incompetent? His blatant sabotage of

Mickelson has quite publicly opposed Newsom on X, pointing fingers at his actions and policies. A few weeks ago, the golfer also challenged the California Governor to a public "town hall debate" regarding the ongoing issues surrounding Sable Offshore Corporation.
