Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals Preview

Sidney Crosby & co. are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Maple Leafs, a game in which they had a 3-0 lead. Evgeni Malkin leads the team in points with 19 (3 goals and 16 assists), and has recorded points in all but two games, so far this season.

Sidney Crosby leads the team in goals scored, accumulating 17 points in 14 games. He is yet to go back-to-back games without scoring a point in the 2025-26 season.

Alex Ovechkin reached a mega milestone of 900 career goals vs. the Blues on Wednesday night, in addition to the Capitals breaking their four-game losing streak with a convincing 6-1 win. Nine different Capitals players got on a score sheet, with the most points scored by Jakob Chychrun, from three assists.

Having scored two goals in the last game, Tom Wilson will want to maintain his hot form against Pittsburgh. He leads the Caps in points (15) and goals(8) scored so far this season.

Penguins vs. Capitals Odds & Prediction:

Capitals are favored in moneyline picks with a -115 vs. Penguins who are the underdogs at -104. The point spread is +/- 1.5, which means the Pens have to just win outright or lose by just 1 goal to cover a +1.5 spread, or Capitals have to win by 2 or more goals, to cover a -1.5 spread. The over/under is set at 6.5 goals.

Despite being the underdog, the Pens have been the better team this season, with the offense and defense firing on all cylinders. Arturs Silovs will play his first career game vs. the Capitals, but has been solid in net for Pittsburgh.

Even if Pittsburgh lose, it will be a tight, low-scoring game, decided by just one goal owing to Capitals' predicted starting goalie Logan Thompson's .938 SV%, and his Pittsburgh counterpart Arturs Silovs' .913 SV%.

Prediction: Penguins 3, Capitals 2.
