Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart puts up career night in dominant frontcourt performance

Isaiah Stewart had the night of his life on Monday.

The Detroit Pistons' reserve center showed that he's as good as any bench big in the NBA with a dominant showing against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The big fella they endearingly call Beef Stew finished with incredible stats:

  • 26 points
  • 14 rebounds
  • 3 assists
  • 4 blocks
  • 9-for-18 FG
  • 6-for-6 FT

The 26 points go down as a career high for Stewart.

He remains a key piece for an on-the-rise Detroit team. He backs up Jalen Duren on a regular basis.

This was proof that when given the chance, Stewart can be more than just a backup.

Maybe that comes to fruition down the road, but for now, it's just a big positive for Detroit.

Stewart has continued to work on his game since entering the NBA. He added a 3-point shot two seasons ago, but then he struggled from deep last year. So he re-worked it this offseason and has gotten better from beyond the arc again.

He's the kind of high-intensity, hard-working player that is exactly what a team that wants to win a lot of games really needs.

And on this night against the Grizzlies, Stewart was a huge reason Detroit got another win.
